Face and Beauty

Introduction

During your free skin rejuvenation consultation with you will have an opportunity to have a two-way conversation with Dr Rahul Shah, a Harley Street Physician, about the areas you would like treated and suitable treatment options.

What causes wrinkles?

Over time the destruction of tissue cells becomes greater than the production causing a change in the structure of the skin. It slowly becomes less elastic, less flexible and more delicate and fragile. Lines, wrinkles and folds are therefore a normal part of the ageing process.

During our lives, environmental factors such as the sun rays, smoke from cigarettes, pollution and hormones also have a detrimental affect how the skin appears. During this time, gravity is continuously pulling at the skin and causing the skin to sag.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) occurs naturally in our bodies and is important for water retention. Production of natural HA diminishes with age resulting in lost volume and elasticity as part of the normal ageing process. The oil-producing and sweat glands also become less active throughout life making our skin drier, less supple and less smooth as we age. The end result is skin that has lost its youthful glow and is more transparent.

Dynamic and Static lines:

Ageing is accompanied by the appearance of 2 types of wrinkles:

1) Dynamic lines caused by muscle over-activity that can be treated with Botox®.
2) Static lines caused by volume loss that can be treated with Dermal Fillers.

How can this treatment help me?

Facial rejuvenation treatments are gentle and effective providing a non surgical reversible approach to the effects of ageing to create a natural pleasing outcome.
